Computer Eye Strain

Computer Eye Strain? - We Can Help

Does your computer give you eye strain?  If so, you may be experiencing Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).

With CVS your symptoms might include:

If you feel any or all of these symptoms you might benefit from a separate pair of glasses that are specifically designed to take away the excess strain from your eyes when you work with a computer.

How it Works:

When you work with a computer your eyes are not supposed to focus on the screen, they are supposed to focus just behind the screen.  When this happens, yours eyes can focus around the screen in a flexible stress free way.

The amount of focus from where your are sitting to the focusing point behind the screen is referred to as the lag of accommodation.  Accommodation is the process where eye muscles pull your focus in from a far distance to a near focus.

When you read your eyes must focus in, turn in and rotate in a balanced and coordinated fashion.  If your eyes do not work together as a team in balance then the result is CVS.

Relief comes with a separate pair of glasses designed specifically for computer use.  These glasses focus at your working distance with an appropriate depth of focus around your screen.

These glasses would not do any work for your eyes, they would simply take away the excess strain from your eyes.  We want your eyes to work, not to overwork.

If you are over 40 years of age, your symptoms will be compounded by presbyopia – a predictable age-related change in your focusing ability.

Benefits:

Having a separate pair of glasses designed specifically for near work would allow you to:

Wearing a task-oriented prescription may also slow down the rate of progression of myopia (nearsightedness) and maintain the flexibility of your eye muscles.
